Journey is a loyalty program built for travelers who choose character over chains, uniting boutique hotels and independent residences under one membership. As the sole designer, I worked directly with our Product Manager, CEO, and engineering to build the mobile app into the primary place members booked trips, earned points, and unlocked rewards, with rich animation and a premium finish throughout.

Members discover, book, and earn on Journey's curated properties, browsing through categories built for two kinds of exploration: a feed-like experience for those who want to get lost in beautiful stays, and simple navigational entry points for those who want to jump straight into search. I gave the browsing experience an editorial feel, treating each property with the same care a boutique brand would give itself.

Members track their point balance, spend on offers and upgrades, transfer points to others, and see their tier benefits at a glance. I focused on making every balance update and reward moment feel immediate and rewarding, reinforcing the real value behind the points.

Trip: manage and elevate a booked stay
Members view their upcoming and current trips, pull up real-time property details, track their folio during a stay, and use points to unlock on-stay offers. This tab acts like a concierge in their pocket, designed with a calm, editorial layout that keeps the property front and center.

Profile: manage your membership and how properties know you
Members manage their account and membership details, and access their Known profile, a personalized record of their likes and dislikes that lets properties anticipate their stay and recognize their loyalty. This tab is where Journey's promise of being known becomes something members can actually see and shape.

Using motion for a lux product experience
I used simple, purposeful animation throughout the app to elevate the experience, from fading and smooth transitions to blur and parallax effects. These details give Journey the same polish and restraint you'd expect from the properties on the platform, making the app feel considered at every touchpoint rather than just functional.

I've had the privilege of working with world-class designers throughout my career, and Dustin is second to none. He's obsessed with deeply understanding the problem he's solving before touching a single pixel — and the decisions he makes along the way are remarkably thoughtful. He's a designer disguised as a product manager, product marketer, and QA engineer all in one. He's both ridiculously thorough and fast — something I've genuinely never been able to say about any of the great designers I've worked with before (usually it's one or the other). What impressed me most during our time working together was how intentionally he wove AI into his process. He helped establish company-wide design standards and frameworks that fed directly into our agents — so that people like me could produce growth campaign assets that actually held up to brand standards without needing to bother him every five minutes. Dustin is an absolute catch. I pray I get the privilege of working with him again soon!
